Safeguarding

At England Lane Academy, our academy community has a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. This means that we have a Child Protection Policy and Procedures in place. All staff including our volunteers and supply staff are DBS checked. Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will always ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with their parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that this is not in the child's best interests.

If you have a safeguarding concern regarding a pupil or a member of staff, please report to Mrs Samantha Thompson - designated person for child protection or Mrs Joanne Rowe - deputy person for child protection.

Members of the public can make anonymous referrals to Social Care Direct. They will deal with your concerns and can offer advice and support on what to do. The telephone number is 0345 8503 503, this is a free and confidential phone line, open 24 hours a day.

Please see our Safeguarding Policy below. Other related policies can be found on our downloads page.

STOP PRESS: One of the first jobs of the newly elected school council will be to work on a child friendly version of this policy to make sure all children understand how to keep themselves safe and how staff will work to keep them safe at England Lane. Updates to follow.
