Year 1

Year 1 is the first year in key stage 1. The children move on from foundation stage learning and begin to work in a more formal way.

Please take a look at our classroom and some of our recent events in the gallery below.

Meet Miss Fabro Valdez

I am from Toronto, Canada, and I am the NQT teaching in Year 1. This is my first year teaching at England Lane Academy and I am looking forward to this teaching experience. I am also an Early Childhood Educator; this gave me the opportunity to work with this age group for the past three years, and counting.

I had two dreams when I was younger: to study and to teach abroad. I studied in Germany for five months in 2014, and ever since then I always wanted to go back to Europe and the UK. Let’s just say I caught the “travel bug” and when the opportunity came up to teach in the UK, I couldn’t say no! Besides teaching and travel, I also enjoy taking pictures, scrapbooking, running 5km and 10 km races, baking desserts (especially cookies), and going out for a nice dinner and of course dessert (especially ice cream)!

Meet Miss Baldacchino

"Since obtaining a History degree in 2009, I've worked in numerous educational settings and supported children's learning in both the UK and Australia.  I joined the dedicated team here at England Lane Academy in the Spring Term of 2015 as a Cover Supervisor, being predominantly based in Year 6 and have now moved to year 1.  I am now trained as a Forest School Teacher and am beginning to extend children's learning beyond the classroom and into the wild.   When not at school you can find me in the sea, snowboarding, hiking, cycling and playing my ukulele around a campfire."
